About the Speakers
Dr. Peter Fitzgerald is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Triventures. He brings decades of experience as a leading interventional cardiologist, start-up founder and venture capitalist. Recognizing the emergence of Israel as a leader in healthcare innovation, he co-founded Triventures and is active in cultivating connections between Triventures portfolio companies, industry leaders and healthcare systems around the world. Peter heads the U.S. Triventures office in Menlo Park and travels to Israel monthly.
Peter currently serves as the Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Technology and Director of the Cardiovascular Core Analysis Laboratory (CCAL) at Stanford University Medical School. He is an Interventional Cardiologist and holds a PhD in Engineering. He is Professor Emeritus in both the Departments of Medicine and Engineering at Stanford. In addition, he heads the Stanford/Asia MedTech innovation program.
Peter has been principle/founder of twenty-one medical device companies and transitioned fourteen of these start-ups to large medical device companies. Prior to co- founding Triventures, Peter co-founded LVP Capital in San Francisco in 2001, which focused on medical device and biotechnology investments. He has additionally served as a Partner for BioStar Ventures and TransPacific Venture Partners.
Peter has led or participated in over 175 clinical trials, published over 550 manuscripts/chapters, lectures worldwide and is considered a worldwide thought leader on the future trends in healthcare. He has been a consultant for the FDA for the past 15 years focused on medical technology and more recently is one of the FDA’s lead advisors on its digital health strategy. He serves on several boards of directors. Peter is a special advisor to C-level multinational medtech, digital health and consumer electronics multinationals.
Michal Geva is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Triventures and brings over 20 years of experience in medtech and digital health in Israel and the U.S. She co-founded Triventures in 2009 to provide what was then missing in the ecosystem- a deep understanding of commercial integration of innovative technologies into the healthcare system. Triventures was one of the first funds in to focus on digital health in Israel and Michal was the first woman to found and manage a venture capital firm in Israel. Since founding Triventures, Michal has grown the fund into a multi-stage investment platform and industry leader.
Prior to launching Triventures, Michal served for many years in the healthcare start-up ecosystem and held multiple executive positions with GI View, Advanced Stent Technologies (acquired by Boston Scientific), ByPass, TriReme Medical (IPO) and others. Michal ran several business departments from operations to regulatory and marketing and helped scale and steer the companies towards successful exits.
In 2017, Michal was recognized as one of the 50 most influential women in Israel by Globes, Israel’s leading financial journal and in 2011 she was recognized as one of the 40 most promising leaders in Israel by The Marker, Israel’s leading business journal.
With a hands-on approach, Michal is involved in all the fund’s major decisions, leads investments and serves as an active board member in the majority of the portfolio companies.
